Sonica began working with Cape Town Retreats at the beginning of 2021. She has been hosting transformational processes her whole life. As a child, she would help her mother prepare for spiritual ceremonies. As she grew older, she harnessed her skill to ‘hold space’ to host art exhibitions, “happenings”, parties, holistic festivals and even week long festivals. She is adept at and has worked on many kinds of events but her passion lies with the depth of transformational healing work.
Sonica has been a healer and massage therapist for over 20 years. Her work incorporates Accupressure, Shiatsu, Hawaiian massage, Reiki, Reflexology, fasting, Dance Therapy and traditional Swedish massage. This work has led her on a journey of deep self discovery and transformation as she learned what it means to be truly healthy at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Sonica began incorporating juice fasting, clean diet, bodywork, dance, spending time in nature and yoga into her work in order to help others on their own healing journey.
Sonica has been a devout student of yoga for many years and feels that yoga is one of the most profound ways to help the body build and maintain strength and vitality while also allowing the mind to rest in peace and calm.
Sonica believes in the power of dance for the physical and subtle body. She has developed her own transformational process for our Deep Cleansing Juice Detox Retreats, incorporating shaking medicine which helps release deep set beliefs, traumas, pain, anxiety, stress and the need to control. In turn she helps us learn to love ourselves and trust our intuition.
Annie is the founder of Cape Town Retreats and World Wide Retreats and is co-founder of Namaste Retreats India. Her ambitions are to inspire as many people around the world as she can to truly love and care for themselves. Annie developed the detoxification program for the Deep Cleansing Juice Detox Retreats and teaches the benefits of juice fasting on the retreats that she hosts around the world.
Annie has over 20 years experience with cleansing practices both through diet and various yogic cleansing techniques. After experimenting personally with fasting, detoxification and working with food as medicine she shares what she has learned. She is passionate about her work and is particularly interested in the area of self development though caring for oneself and others. She believes strongly that when we care for ourselves, our lifestyle automatically improves and we inspire others to be healthy and to love life.. She believes that developing emotional happiness is the key for creating a beautiful life and teaches the simple art of being happy in the present moment.
Annie teaches Traditional Indian Yoga, a synthesis of Ashtanga Yoga and Hatha Yoga, based on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras (Ashtanga) and Hatha Yoga Pradipika. She studied Yoga in India at Yoga Vidya Gurukul (ashram) under Rishi Dharmajyoti. Annie teaches yoga as a means to develop consciousness, to make the mind body soul connection and to bring the body into optimal health and wellbeing.
When she is not travelling and running retreats, Annie lives in Costa Rica with her husband and their two cats.
